About Us
At MycoProvisions™, we believe food should nourish people, strengthen communities, and leave the world a little better than we found it.
We're Paul and Rachel Guindon, a husband-and-wife team from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, raising our blended family. Together, we're proud parents to Alex, Charlie, and Michael—and we're also a family with four paws. Rubble, our Mini Goldendoodle, has become an important part of the MycoProvisions story, too.
Like many families, we've learned that the best things in life are built with patience, curiosity, resilience, and a shared sense of purpose. Those same values have become the foundation of MycoProvisions.
How MycoProvisions Began
The idea for MycoProvisions didn't start with a business plan—it started at home.
Long before functional mushrooms became widely recognized, Rachel had already discovered their potential. As a licensed Medical Esthetician and Certified Laser Technician with more than a decade of experience helping people look and feel their best, she has always been passionate about wellness and taking a thoughtful approach to what we put into and onto our bodies.
Functional mushrooms became part of her own daily routine years ago, and her enthusiasm sparked Paul's curiosity. What began as conversations around the kitchen table soon became research, experimentation, and eventually a shared vision.
Inspired by Rachel's passion, Paul immersed himself in the science of mushroom cultivation, sustainable agriculture, and food innovation. Drawing on a background in business development, healthcare leadership, hospitality, and entrepreneurship, he saw an opportunity to connect good food, good science, and stronger local food systems.
And, as tends to happen in a family, the idea kept growing. We began thinking beyond mushrooms themselves. What could we create from what local farmers already grow? How could we reduce food waste? How could we make functional ingredients more approachable? And how could we develop better food choices not only for people, but for the animals who are part of our families, too?
And Then There Was Rubble
Some of the best ideas in our family have come from simply trying to solve problems at home.
Rubble, our Mini Goldendoodle, is one of those stories.
Like many doodles, he's dealt with food sensitivities and allergies, and finding foods that actually worked for him wasn't easy. Rather than accept that there weren't better options, we started making his food ourselves.
What began as something we did for our own dog became an ongoing experiment—understanding ingredients, nutrition, preparation, and what actually works. We're still learning. Still testing. Still looking for better solutions.
That experience has become part of the MycoProvisions philosophy. We believe good products start with real questions and real experience—not a trend or a marketing claim.
As we've kept exploring mushrooms, whole-food ingredients, and responsible food production, we've naturally started asking the same questions about the food we give our pets. That work is now leading us toward pet-focused products of our own—approached the same way we approach everything at MycoProvisions: thoughtfully, carefully, and with one simple rule. If we wouldn't feel good giving it to our own family, Rubble included, we're not putting it on yours.
Our Roots & Partners
MycoProvisions is being built through family, collaboration, and a deep connection to where we come from.
Guindon Farms
For Paul, this story starts long before MycoProvisions. Guindon Farms is the farm where he grew up, and that connection to agriculture, hard work, and the land has stayed with him throughout his life. It's part of the foundation for how we think about food, farming, resourcefulness, and community.
Today, we're exploring ways for the farm to become a sourcing partner for MycoProvisions, connecting our cultivation and food-production work with locally grown agricultural resources. Looking ahead, we're also working toward making Guindon Farms the future home of our shiitake cultivation—bringing a new chapter to a place that's been part of our family's story for generations.
That's what building a local food business is supposed to look like: taking something that started with family and finding new ways to grow it into the future.
Superior Aesthetics
Superior Aesthetics has helped shape our understanding of wellness and the potential of functional ingredients, contributing to product development and our exploration of the beauty and wellness space.
MycoNauts
MycoNauts has played an important role in our cultivation journey, providing knowledge, resources, and the opportunity to expand mushroom production while continuing to build the Upper Peninsula's mushroom community.
Lake Shore Depot
Lake Shore Depot has become an important part of our vision for a stronger local food system, providing access to commercial kitchen resources and helping us develop new opportunities around local food, distribution, and upcycling.
These relationships are more than business relationships to us—they're the people, places, and communities helping MycoProvisions grow. From the farm Paul grew up on to the mushroom growers, wellness professionals, food businesses, and local partners we're working alongside today, we're building something we hope stays deeply connected to the Upper Peninsula.
Our Mission
We're a family-centered food and wellness company rooted in cultivation, research, creativity, and community.
MycoProvisions grows premium gourmet mushrooms, explores the science behind functional mushrooms, and develops innovative foods and wellness products that make those ingredients more accessible to everyday consumers.
We're also committed to finding better uses for what would otherwise become waste. By working with local farms, businesses, and food partners, we look for opportunities to upcycle surplus ingredients and agricultural resources into useful, flavorful products with longer shelf lives.
And as our family has grown, so has our definition of family—it now includes the people around our table, and the animals sitting underneath it.
Every decision we make is guided by three simple principles:
- Improve people's lives through better food and thoughtful nutrition.
- Support local farms, businesses, and communities.
- Use more of what we have and waste less.
Looking Ahead
As parents, we're constantly thinking about the future we're helping create—not only for our own children, but for the communities they'll inherit. That's what makes this more than a business for us.
Whether we're cultivating mushrooms, researching their potential, creating functional foods, developing products for pets, partnering with local growers, or finding new ways to give surplus food a second life, we're trying to build something that reflects how we want to live. Something local. Something useful. Something we're proud to share with the families—and four-legged companions—around us.
We believe the best businesses aren't measured only by what they sell, but by the difference they make in the lives of the people and animals they serve.
Thank you for taking the time to learn our story. We hope every product we create reflects the same care, curiosity, and purpose that inspired MycoProvisions from the very beginning.
From our family to yours—and from Rubble to your four-legged family members—thank you for being part of our journey.
